Sisa Feher is a slovak composer, vocalist, multiinstrumentalist and lyricist known for her original multigenre musical writing and a passionate performance dominated by her raw vocal expression.
Wider bio:
She released several albums with her original music, and as a part of composing duo with progressive guitarist Vladko Mikláš. Each album represents it’s own universe and therefore carries it’s own project name. Sisa’s writing is often focused on the current world’s enviroments and social agendas wrapped in the lyrical coat both in english or slovak language.
Her last album Mammatus was released in November 2024 and was very well received. Offering the experimental and psychadelic approach mixed with vocal alternative jazz she is usually coming from. On this album, as well as the previous one, she is the author of compositions, arrangements, lyrics and the production.
Her previous khi, written for a septet was recorded in Copenhagen with an international ensemble and it was performed after a release in Prague, Copenhagen and Paris.
In 2022 she finished an international elite postgraduate program European Jazz Master that gave her opportunity to study at several best music universities in Europe such as RMC in Copenhagen, CNSMPD in Paris, Berlin’s Jazz Institute and norwegian NTNU.
Sisa actively performs with her band that usually carries the name of the recent release (Sisa Feher & Mammatus now, Sisa Feher & khi previously), trio Bardo or as a solo performance with authentic repertoire, guitar and loop station.
In her musical career she performed with her original music as an opening act before Esperanza Spalding, Kurt Elling, Robert Glasper or Richard Bona.
Outside of her own musical projects she collaborated and composed music for different projects such as Instant Acts, an humanitarian circus organisation, Matera Armoniae in 2019, where she wrote a piece for a string orchestra and basilicata folklore instruments to promote traditional music from that area, or recorded with musicians such as Jen Hovorka (Notions of everyday life 2016) or Lubomír Gašpar (Ľubozvuk 2021), Vladislav Šarišský and Jozef Lupták with project Songs of Marian Varga and took a part in experimental recording for a ballet Extasy produced by Vladislav Šarišský. Out of passion for the blues music and dancing, she occasionally performs sets for the blues dancing festivals, stating that the core need of her musical soul is to write original contemporary music, that can communicate her perception and thoughts, but she cannot deny the thrill of interpretating the genious of old music she loves so much and is coming from.
